Lipstick Tips & Tricks

1. Pick the right shade.

What most of us do: Swipe a possible new color on the back of our hand to see if it flatters. A better idea: Test the lipstick on your fingertip — that way, you can hold the color next to your face to see how it looks. (No mirror? Your finger is still a better gauge, since it’s similar in color and texture to your lips.)

2. Get buff.

For the prettiest finish, run your toothbrush over your lips to exfoliate any dry skin (a damp paper towel also can do the job). Post-scrub, lipstick will glide on without caking.

3. Fill in fine lines.

Here’s a way to keep lipstick from feathering (a great trick if you have tiny wrinkles above your upper lip): Coat your mouth and go slightly outside your lip line with a clear balm ‑- like plain ChapStick — before applying color. Like invisible spackle, it keeps your lipstick from traveling.

4. Extend the life of your lipstick.

So you’d like your color to last through lunch, but you don’t like the feel of long-wearing formulas? Here’s a tip: Apply a coat of regular lipstick, then press it with a single-ply tissue and powder lightly (over the tissue) with a puff or brush. This sets the color and prevents running and feathering.

5. Plump up.

For a finishing touch, dab the middle of your lower lip with a bit of silver or gold lip gloss. Any makeup artist worth his shimmer powder will tell you this is the fastest route to creating the illusion of fullness. But remember: If you blot or purse your lips, you’ll blur the Jolie effect.

3 Ways To Get Mascara Off Easily

Learning all of the different and natural ways to get mascara off easily can be hard! We know that when we first started to wear mascara, one of the biggest challenges that we had was learning the ways to get mascara off easily! So girls, you asked for it and we’re answering, I’ve gotten together all of the different ways to get mascara off easily and quickly!

1. BE GENTLE

The first thing that we learned when we were trying out all of the different ways to get mascara off easily is to be gentle. You don’t want to tug and pull on your lashes because that can actually make it a lot worse! If you are just gentle and easy with your lashes, the mascara will come off easier!

3. HOLD HOT WASH CLOTH ON YOUR EYES TO LOOSE MASCARA

Before you start any way to get mascara off easily treatment, take a few extra seconds and actually put your washcloth under hot (as hot as you can handle ladies!) and then actually place the hot wash cloth over your eyes. This will loosen up your mascara and will make it a lot easier to get off! Try it – this worked wonders for us!

6. OLIVE OIL

Another natural way to get mascara off easily is olive oil! Just dip your cotton ball in a little bit of olive oil, and rub it along your lashes (after allowing them to heat up with the washcloth of course!) and you’ll see just how amazing this treatment really works!

5 Hair Tips For Busy Mornings…

Maybe you shouldn’t have pressed the SNOOZE button four times this morning… now you’re in a rush, trying to figure out how to do your make-up and brush your teeth in the shower. And what about your hair? No worries, my dear. Here are 7 indispensible hair tips for your busy morning. And trust me, there’s no good way to get your eyeliner in while you’re waiting for your conditioner to set

1. USE DRY SHAMPOO

If your hair is a little too greasy to brush and go, try a little dry shampoo at the roots to absorb excess oil and to perk it back up. It works wonders without weighing down your ‘do, and will save all that wash and dry time.

2. LEARN A FEW BRAIDS

YouTube is loaded with tutorials on how to do the most stylish braids, so invest some time now to learn how to do a few.

3. INVEST IN A GOOD DRYER

Save time every morning by investing in a good hair dryer! We recommend Parlux. We know first-hand how helpful this hair tip is… Lots of time gets wasted when cheap-o dryers shut themselves off to cool…

4. GO SLEEK

This super-rushed morning may be the perfect time to try a spy-thriller inspired sleek updo or ponytail. This style won’t work well on a girl with a fringe, but if you’ve got long layers, why not slick them back wet, add mousse to keep the strays in check, and give it a go? We love this hair tip because it’s so fast and easy and just plain sexy!

7. GO BIG!

Flip your hair upside down, spritz with a little refresher spray, tease a bit, then flip back up, finger-comb, and go. This isn’t just a hair tip for rushed mornings, either… do it anytime to add a little sexy edge to your day.

Now that you’ve seen these hair tips for busy mornings, don’t be tempted to ignore your alarm clock tomorrow to see if they work as beautifully as you think they do — save them for when you’ll really need them! Which of these tips do you think will work best, or have you already tried a few? If so, which ones do you rely on most? Do tell!

Pale Skin Bible

If you have a fair complexion you may wonder about beauty tips for pale skin. Porcelain skin is absolutely gorgeous. With these 5 beauty tips for pale skin you can make it even more fabulous.

1. AVOID NEUTRAL LIP COLORS

If you have a light complexion it is best to avoid light lip colors. Nudes and light browns won’t do your fair skin any justice. In fact you will look more dead than alive.

2. GO FOR COLOR

Since we know neutral lip colors are out, what are some beauty tips for pale skin? Women with pale skin look best in bright lipstick. Try reds or corals. Think of Scarlett Johansson with her beautiful porcelain skin and bright ruby lips.

3. AVOID NEUTRAL EYE SHADOW

Pale skin doesn’t do well with neutral eye shadows. Creams and beige will wipe out your complexion instead of giving you dimension. Avoid them at all cost

4. DON’T SKIP BLUSH

Ever! It still confuses me why so many women think blush is not a necessity. Blush gives your face color, definition and warmth. Always apply light and add more as needed.

5. NO LIGHT CLOTHES

Unless you want to look naked from a distance, I strongly urge you not to wear whites and creams. The colors are too light and will blend in with your skin tone.

7 Ways To Make Your Blow-Dry Last!

1. HANDS OFF

One of the hardest things to do after you get a fabulous blow-dry is to keep your hands off those soft and silky strands but it’s one of the most important rules and the one you must follow in case you want to master the art of how to make a blow-dry last. Touching your hair will cause it to lose its shape and body as well cause your scalp to produce oil so admire your hair from afar and avoid touching it at all costs!

2. WRAP IT UP

When it comes to tricks to making a blow-dry last, wrapping your hair up can mean the difference between waking up to soft, straight strands and having to face a tangled mess! Grab a silk scarf and carefully and loosely wrap your hair up so that the ends aren’t disturbed and leave bangs out. Avoid putting anything on your hair that can cause a dent or any weird lines in your hair.

3. TIE ME DOWN

If you don’t have a silk scarf to use, another trick to making a blow-dry last is to loosely tie the ends of your hair in a ponytail with a soft scrunchie high on the top of your head. Leave out the front portion that frames your face and sleep with a satin pillowcase. The key here is to loosely tie up your hair so that your strands and ends remain relatively intact.

4. SHOWER AND SHINE

Next on the list of the ways to make your blow-dry last even in the most challenging situations (such as showering)  is to tie your hair up again in a high and loose ponytail and tie a scarf or bandana around your hairline so that the shower cap doesn’t make any embarrassing dents in your skin or your hair and to keep hair from getting wet. Once you’re done showering, dry yourself off and shake your hair out. Feel free to use hairspray to help settle your hair.

5. DRY SHAMPOO

Another important step in how to make a blow-dry last is to use a dry shampoo after a couple of days when your scalp and/or hair starts feeling a little oily. Spritz or powder your roots and gently rub or brush the formula in to improve the look, feel, smell and texture of your hair!

6. REDUCE PRODUCT USE

When you’re looking for ways to make your blow-dry last, keep in mind that you want to use the least amount of products possible such as serums, hairspray and shine enhancers. You can use these products, of course, especially if you’re hoping to prolong your blow-dry for a work week, although using them towards the end is generally considered better  as it will allow you to have a fresher looking style as opposed to the one matted with a full week’s worth of product buildup.

7. BRING THE HEAT

One of the final steps in how to make a blow-dry last is to use a large barreled curling iron to give your hair some oomph. Change your part for more volume and use dry shampoo again if needed. Give your hair some bouncy curls or just use the iron to flip the ends under and get a more uniform look. If you don’t have time to curl your hair, dirty hair is always the easiest to style and braid so go for a fun fishtail braid or try something new!

Now you know exactly how to make a blowout last! Just be very gentle and avoid touching it or playing it as much as possible. The key to keeping your hair looking its best is to control oil and avoid using too many styling products in your hair which will weigh hair down. What’s the longest you’ve had a blowout last and what tricks did you use?
